Headline: Kyiv Faces Drone Strikes for Second Consecutive Night

Ukrainian officials stated on Monday that Kyiv experienced another restless night due to Russia's consecutive drone attacks on the capital. The attacks, occurring in several waves, resulted in damage to residential buildings and injured at least one civilian. Ukraine's military reported that out of 116 drones launched by Russia overnight, 59 were neutralized, while 45 disappeared from radar and likely fell onto Ukrainian territory. Serhiy Popko, Head of Kyiv’s Military Administration, noted via Telegram that the frequency of air attacks on Ukraine and Kyiv has not diminished.

Despite the destruction of up to 10 drones targeting Kyiv from various directions, debris from downed drones caused at least one injury and inflicted damage to infrastructure. Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported via Telegram that debris impacted three major areas of Kyiv, damaging roofs, building facades, and power lines. Regional authorities detailed significant damage to a multi-story residential building, with partial destruction of an apartment. Air raid sirens in Kyiv persisted for over five hours until the air force declared the skies clear around 02:15 GMT.

In a separate incident, the southeastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia was struck by ballistic missiles on Monday morning. Governor Ivan Fedovov shared via Telegram that the attack injured seven people and damaged more than 30 homes. These recent assaults followed Russian attacks on Sunday in a central Ukrainian city that left 17 people injured. Additionally, in the eastern region of Kharkiv, near the Russian border, national police reported that guided aerial bombs injured at least 12 people and damaged several residential buildings overnight until Sunday.

While these reports are not independently verified and there has been no statement from Moscow, both Russia and Ukraine consistently deny targeting civilians in the conflict that began with Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
