Intriguing Proposal by Shareholder: Microsoft Urged to Invest in Bitcoin
According to a filing with the SEC, Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) shareholders will vote in December on whether the tech giant should publicly consider adding Bitcoin to its balance sheet. The filing, dated October 24, states that the proposal to "Evaluate Bitcoin Investment" has been suggested by certain shareholders for the meeting on December 10. However, Microsoft's board of directors advises voting against it, stating that they already assess a "wide range of investable assets," including Bitcoin. The proposal is backed by the National Center for Public Policy Research (NCPPR), which highlighted MicroStrategy's Bitcoin investment strategy and noted that despite being a much smaller entity, it has outperformed Microsoft by over 300% this year.
