Headline: Enerjisa Üretim Secures Billion-Dollar Financing for Renewable Energy Projects
Enerjisa Enerji Üretim A.Ş., of which 50% of its shares are indirectly owned by Sabancı Holding, has made a significant move to consolidate its leadership in Turkey's renewable energy market. The company has secured financing agreements totaling up to $1.012 billion with international and local financial institutions for 750 MW of the Renewable Energy Resource Area 2 (YEKA-2) projects. This project is planned to be gradually completed and operational by the first quarter of 2026.
Key financial institutions involved in providing the loan include the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), JPMorgan (JPM), HSBC (HSBC), KfW IPEX-Bank, Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, and Akbank (AKBNK). Euler Hermes supported the financing by providing an export credit guarantee for a strategic section of the project. This financing will be used primarily for wind power plant projects conducted by Enerjisa Üretim in Çanakkale, Aydın, and Balıkesir.
Various wind power plant projects are included in the financing scope. The loan will be allocated to fund major wind power plants such as the Armutçuk, Akköy, Ihlamur, Ovacık, Hacıhıdırlar, Dampınar, Harmancık, Kestanederesi, and Uygar RES projects. The repayment of the loan amounts will begin after a one-and-a-half-year grace period and will be completed in semi-annual installments by the end of 2034.
Enerjisa Üretim aims to reach approximately 5,000 MW of installed capacity and achieve a 60% share in renewable energy by 2026 with these projects. Efforts to finance the remaining 250 MW of the YEKA-2 projects are ongoing. Through these investments, the company intends to further strengthen its leadership in private sector electricity generation in Turkey. Updates on capacity increases and new financing opportunities will be communicated to the public regularly.
