News Headline: Boeing Workers Overwhelmingly Reject 35% Pay Raise Offer

Boeing workers have decisively rejected a proposed contract offer in a vote, extending a nearly six-week-long strike. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers announced on platform X that 64% of the District 751 members voted against the contract. Boeing's proposed offer included a 35% wage increase but failed to reinstate a pension plan, which many employees had demanded. Approximately 33,000 hourly workers have been on strike since rejecting the company's proposed four-year contract on September 13. Workers have sought a 40% wage increase to make up for years of lagging behind inflation, which has left them struggling to afford living in one of the most expensive regions in the U.S. Jon Holden, the president of the Seattle union chapter, stated, "After 10 years of sacrifices, there is still ground to make up, and we hope to do that by resuming negotiations as soon as possible."
